Solid-state quantum emitters, especially epitaxial quantum dots (QDs) with large optical oscillator strength, are a promising candidate for future on-chip quantum devices. However, the deterministic creation and eventual scalability of single QD devices greatly suffers from the random nature of the QD positions produced in their self-assembled growth. We present a new high-performance system for nanoscale location of QDs based on photoluminescence imaging. This system exhibits improved positioning uncertainty and shorter acquisition time (3x lower and 100x shorter, respectively) than the first generation setup. We demonstrate its use in the creation of highlt-efficient quantum light sources, i.e., a Purcell-enhanced single-photon source an entangled photon pair source with the state-of-the-art performances. Finally, I’ll present our recent progress on developing heterogeneously integrated quantum photonic chips with QD sources.

Jin Liu is a professor of physics at Sun Yat-Sen university. His research activities cover integrated quantum photonics and nanophotonics by utilizing molecular beam epitaxy, semiconductor nanofabrication and cryogenic optical characterizations.
