摘要 (Abstract): 

       The explosion mechanism of type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) is unknown. We argue that the direct white dwarf-white dwarf collisions in the field multiple stellar systems is a promising major channel to explain SNe Ia. We show that the collision models reproduce several robust observational features across the SN Ia population. From the archival late-time spectra of some SNe Ia, we discovered the bi-modal velocity distributions of Ni56 in the ejecta, providing direct observational evidence for the collision models. Since March 2016, we have conducted the 100IAS survey to systematically obtain a large and volume-limited complete sample of late-time SN Ia spectra in order to test whether the SN Ia population can be explained by the collision models.

东苏勃: 2004年本科毕业于南京大学天文系;2009年获美国俄亥俄州立大学天文学博士学位;后获首届NASA Carl Sagan Exoplanet Fellowship资助,在美国普林斯顿高等研究院从事博士后研究;2013年起为北京大学科维理天文与天体物理研究所研究员,并入选青年千人项目;2018年入选科技部中青年科技创新领军人才。主要研究方向为系外行星,超新星,微引力透镜和动力学。在ApJ, MNRAS, Science, PNAS, PRL等期刊发表论文120余篇,引用5600余次。。
