摘要 (Abstract):
Stellar-mass binary black hole mergers are the loudest and the most commonly detected gravitational wave sources at the ground-based gravitational wave detector network LIGO/Virgo. In this talk, I will discuss how their astrophysical origin have intrigued astrophysicists, and how they may serve as cosmological probes. I will describe an independent analysis of the publicly released LIGO/Virgo O1/O2 data by an IAS effort in search of compact binary coalescence, and present results. I will also discuss the science of gravitationally lensed sources, which are likely to be found as the catalog of detected binary black hole mergers enlarges.
