摘要 (Abstract):
Huge efforts and expenses are currently being committed to the experimental search for axions, a theoretically well-motivated dark matter candidate. In the first part of this talk, I will first review currently deployed dark-matter detectors, in particular, the ones taking advantage of AMO systems. Many ongoing experiments attempt to convert axions into photons in advanced cavity setups. This is, however, very restrictive as the cavity size becomes prohibitively big for lighter axions. In the second part of this talk, I will introduce our proposal to detect axion dark matter using spectroscopy of Rydberg atoms without relying on a cavity setup, and still setting leading exclusion boundaries in the low-axion-mass regime. In the final part of the talk, I will introduce the Photon-resolved Floquet theory, which is a theoretical framework capable of predicting the detailed probability distribution of coherent light used in spectroscopic experiments . This technique will pave the way for the design of more sensitive spectroscopic methods.
主讲人简介 (Speaker's CV):
Georg Engelhardt received his PhD at the TU Berlin in 2017, after which he joined the Beijing Computational Science Research Center as a postdoctorial research fellow until 2021. At present, he works as an associate researcher at the Southern University of Science and Technology in the Shenzhen Institute of Quantum Science and Engineering. He investigates principles of light-matter interaction in the quantum optical and semiclassical regimes. In this context, he develops protocols for quantum control and quantum sensing. Besides others, his research has contributed to the understanding of the polariton dynamics and the quantum control of Floquet systems.
