摘要 (Abstract):
Tidal disruption events (TDEs), in which stars are torn apart by the tidal force from massive black holes, provide good opportunities for probing massive black hole demographics. Furthermore, TDEs are ideal laboratories for studying black hole accretion and jet physics. In this talk, I will first give an introduction to the TDE physics, followed by a summary of current observations. Then I will focus on our latest work on understanding the diversity, evolution and demographics of TDEs.
主讲人简介 (Speaker's CV):
Prof. Dai’s research interests are high energy astrophysics, black hole accretion disks and jets, tidal disruption events, compact objects and general relativistic simulations. Prof. Dai got her bachelor from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2005 and the PhD from Stanford University in 2012. She was a joint postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chile and Yale University, and then a postdoctoral research associate at the Univesity of Maryland. In April 2019, Prof. Dai joined the University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor. Before that, she was an Assistant Professor at the DARK center, Niels Bohr Institute, where she is now holding the Sophie Tycho Brahe visiting professorship.
